Designed to be made and eaten straightaway and still tastes great. Light fruit cakes bedecked with glace fruits and whole shelled nuts make a good fast alternative to the traditional matured dark fruit cake. These can be made now and left in the larder till Christmas. MInce pies can also be in avance, then left unbaked and frozen to cook as required. Home baked biscuits and cookies make great gifts.
