OverviewThe food and drink menus in Ashtons Gastropub are laden with Irish produce. This modern gastropub in south Dublin serves quality, fresh, honest food and a wide range of craft beers.
Ashtons Gastropub, located in the residential south Dublin suburb of Clonskeagh is the sister premises of Harte’s Bar and Grill in Kildare, which is owned by Ronan Kinsell, Paul Lenehan and Sean Forde. Ronan is in permanent residence at Ashtons Gastropub and he brings his love of Irish produce and craft beers to a grateful clientele who appreciate the thought and care that goes into the offering here.
Ashtons Gastropub is a warm and welcoming place full of regulars, locals as well as those visiting for the first time. It is a great mix and a great vibe.
If you fancy a refreshing beverage and a nibble you can pull up a seat at the bar and order from the bar menu. If you prefer, there is a casual dining space around the bar with more formal table seating.
Downstairs is the beautifully chic River Room with views of the river to the rear and its own outdoor terrace. This is the place to hang out when you want to catch up with friends or catch up with the sport or news on the TV. It also serves as a private room for group gatherings and is available to book any time of year.
In summer, the terrace buzzes with guests enjoying al fresco eating and drinking making the most of the good weather. For sun lovers, there are outdoor tables to the front and for those seeking a bit of shade there’s an umbrella covered terrace to the side.
The menus at Ashtons Gastropub focus on seasonality, provenance, innovation and balance. The menus are a great example of seasonal, modern Irish food.
The a la carte menu features seasonal offerings presented in smart style. You’ll find interesting artisan options like Kerry cured charcuterie, turf smoked salmon from a small smokehouse and Irish farmhouse cheeses. Artisan produce is named on the menu so you know exactly what you are getting. A house special is the eight-hour braised blade of beef, which is melt in the mouth and rich in flavour. This menu changes seasonally and daily specials also reflect the time of year and what’s best and available on the day. Ronan is more than happy to answer questions as to where produce comes from.
Ronan is also a big fan of Irish craft beers and loves chatting about them, too. There’s a great Irish Craft Beer Taster Board which includes four tumblers of artisan handcrafted brew. Ronan’s Rotation tap, which he looks after himself, is changed every two weeks, so you can sample his favourite Irish craft beers on draught and in perfect condition. Gin lovers will be delighted by the Gin Board which is a choice of three gins from a special list, plus a tonic of your preference. There’s also a terrific selection of wines that pair perfectly with the food menus here.
The lucky locals of Clonskeagh enjoy this pub very much, and we think you will too.
Ashtons Gastropub uses only fully-traceable, sustainable fish and Bord Bia approved Irish beef, poultry, pork and bacon and it supports local artisan growers and producers.
