Tim O’Sullivan is one of the most respected chefs in the country and his menus, be that breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea or dinner, take you on a gourmet tour of Ireland from the comfort of the cosy dining areas. Make sure you try Tim’s famous fruit scones and Connemara Mussel Pie and pick up a copy of his cookbook and some of the products from his artisanal food line.

Lunch & Afternoon Tea

Snuggle up by the roaring fire in one of the lounges and enjoy a leisurely lunch. Favourites of soups, salads and sandwiches are all freshly prepared to order with the finest local ingredients. For a more indulgent experience, order an afternoon tea which comes with dainty sandwiches, delectable sweet treats and light and buttery scones served with whipped cream and homemade preserves. Delicious.


In the main restaurant in Renvyle House, you can dine on a wide range of Irish and Continental cuisine.


Is there anything more enticing than the smell of fresh baked bread? The carbs are calling at breakfast time in Renvyle House with a tempting selection of baked in-house breads and viennoiseries. Resistance is futile. The extensive breakfast options include the best of local ingredients and their provenance is proudly displayed throughout the menu.


The Chef’s well-crafted menus showcase the best of local, seasonal produce and feature a lot of classic Irish dishes with modern twists. On the menu expect to see Irish beef, Connemara lamb and local-caught game as well as seafood creations using fresh fish caught daily off the Atlantic shores. Perfectly tantalising starters lead you into succulent main courses followed by scrumptious desserts with marvellous award-winning Irish farmhouse cheeses to finish. You’ll want to order everything on the menu.

Rooms & Facilities

There are 70 bedrooms, suites and family rooms suitable for solo travellers, couples, families and groups. In addition to the hotel rooms Renvyle offer 3 beautiful detached lodges each with 4 bedrooms. All of the Hotel rooms enjoy a view of the sea, mountains or hotel gardens.

Whether it’s a romantic getaway, family break or fun with friends, there is something for everyone no matter what type of stay you desire.

The hotel may be old, but the facilities and amenities are thoroughly modern although the decor is more in keeping with the Arts & Crafts movement of the historic house.


The rooms are decorated with Irish handmade fabrics and furnishings which are sourced, where possible, from skilled local craftsmen. The curtains are Irish tweed made by John Hanly & Son in Roscrea and colours reflect the changing landscape throughout the year. The throws on the beds are Irish tweed and the linen is from Cork – getting out of bed is a real struggle. The carpets are from Curragh Irish Carpets, the furniture made with Irish Oak in Beaola in Roundstone and the bathrooms feature prized Connemara marble. It really is a wonderful tribute to the remarkable resources, craft and design in Ireland.


Chef Tim O’Sullivan is a champion of native producers, seasonality and sustainability. His menus feature locally sourced food – think Connemara Hill Lamb and Galway Bay Oysters – as well as produce from Renvyle’s herb beds, gardens, orchards and polytunnel.

Guests can even enjoy themed weekends at Renvyle House Hotel around sustainable topics and practices such as horticulture, food and drink.
