Renowned for its warm welcome and outstanding guest experience, Ballyvolane House, the home of Justin and Jenny Green, is located on farmland and surrounded by woodland, mature gardens and a vast walled garden that produces a huge amount of vegetables year round. Dining is a relaxed but exceptional experience at Ballyvolane House. Menus focus on seasonal, home-grown vegetables, salads, fruit and herbs from the walled garden which complement home reared beef and lamb and Ballyvolane free range pork, fresh fish from Ireland’s coast and sometimes the day’s catch from the nearby Blackwater River.

At Ballyvolane House you are in for a memorable and mouthwatering modern Irish menu. Dishes celebrate the country house style of cooking and use home grown ingredients and those sourced locally.

Dinner is informal and relaxed and usually takes the form of a tasting menu served family-style, that is to say, with all guests sat at a long communal table. There are some smaller, separate tables if you would like a more intimate dining option. Either way, it is a magnificent dining experience not to be missed.

The menu changes based on ingredients available but expect to see a lot of ingredients from Ballyvolane’s walled-garden, farm, river and the house’s rare-breed pigs. There is also an abundance of wild edible plants growing all over Ballyvolane House estate, so expect them to appear on the menu too.

Also on the menu you’ll find deeply comforting and satisfying desserts and a wonderful selection of artisan Irish cheeses.

A carefully chosen wine list complements the food and features some organic wines, champagnes and dessert wines as well as juicy reds and crisp whites.

In the morning, you can indulge in a hearty breakfast which can be continental style or ‘The Full Monty’ hot Irish breakfast.

If you get peckish later in the day, you can relax over an afternoon tea of herbal infusions, teas and coffees and homemade cakes.

Sink into a seat in the Drawing Room and sip some Bertha’s Revenge Gin cocktails by the fire. Bertha’s Revenge is Ballyvolane House’s small batch Irish milk gin made from whey alcohol. The whey alcohol comes from dairy farmers in Cork and it is blended with Ballyvolane House natural well water and an interesting mix of locally foraged and grown botanicals.
