Chapter One ticks every box with its top class chef, high-end dining experience, elegant surroundings and professional and discreet service. However, even though Chapter One is incredibly chic and sophisticated, there is a wonderfully warm welcome when you arrive. Well, this is Ireland afterall, and we are known for our generous hospitality.
Chef and owner Ross Lewis started Chapter One in north Dublin city in 1993. Since then, he has built up a solid and loyal following and in the process has become one of Ireland’s leading head chefs. He is a trailblazer in innovative ideas especially when it comes to showcasing the ingredients and products of the artisan producers of his native Cork as well as those in other parts of the country.
Chapter One’s reputation precedes it. This is one of the most important and prestigious eating establishments in Ireland and it was awarded a Michelin star in 2007 – and deservedly so. Numerous other awards have been gathered over the years too.
Ross and his kitchen team are well supported by the front of house team whose timing is impeccable when it comes to serving this elegant and expressive food. The marriage between kitchen and dining room service in Chapter One is an art form.
There are a few dining options in Chapter One. A lunchtime tasting menu is a leisurely affair and there is also a set menu, which is great value for money. In the evening, for those heading to the nearby Gate Theatre, a pre-theatre menu is on offer and timed perfectly to get you into your seats before the show starts. For dinner, there is an a la carte option and superb tasting menu. To accompany the fine food is a fine wine list which is impressive and wide ranging.
The food at Chapter One is a mouthwatering blend of old-style with creative twists. Dishes use organic and seasonal ingredients and cooking and presentation skills are artful. Perfect execution of the gourmet experience is what Ross and his team are famed for.
