The Heron’s Rest prides itself on its use of local, organic and artisanal produce for its gourmet picnic baskets and continental breakfast banquets. For those staying in the self-catering Townhouse, breakfast is available on request and delivered fresh to your kitchen in the morning.
A gourmet breakfast is served in the light and bright dining room where guests gather around the communal dining table. This family-style gathering is a very convivial experience. For a more intimate start to your day, you can also have breakfast in bed.
The continental breakfast is a feast of freshly baked breads and muffins, poached fruits, homemade toasted granola, natural yogurt and a selection of local artisanal cured meats and salmon with Irish farmhouse cheeses. Everything is always made using the finest local and predominantly organic produce. As you’ll find out, Sorcha and her team are great ambassadors for the locality and they take delight in showcasing the very best of local artisan producers in the west of Ireland.
The Herons Rest Boutique B&B also offers gourmet picnic baskets which are laden with the best of local and artisanal organic produce. They are perfect for brunch or lunch by the banks of the river or a grazing dinner as you watch the sunset over Galway Bay.
Rooms & Facilities
The Heron’s Rest has two accommodation offerings to suit your needs. There are two townhouses adjacent to each other – The Heron’s Rest Boutique B&B and The Heron’s Rest Boutique Townhouse self-catering accommodation. In the Townhouse, breakfast is available on request and delivered fresh to your kitchen in the morning.
Rooms are designed for maximum luxury and comfort while also featuring small personal touches to make your experience all the more enjoyable. Each room has a unparalleled views of Claddagh Harbour and Galway Bay and it is just wonderful to pull up chair and stare out the window getting lost in the peace and tranquility of the scene.
There is also a big, bright, light-filled lounge with plenty of cosy couches and inviting armchairs where you can relax and unwind.
Rooms at The Heron’s Rest are designed for maximum amounts of comfort and contain plenty of amenities to enhance your stay.
Sink into the plush bedding and orthopaedic mattress or curl up on the in cosy seating areas and enjoy the view from the windows, there’s even a set of binoculars so you can spot some of the local wildlife. The Bed & Breakfast rooms are also decorated with small touches to add to that homey feel, whether it be a soft throw on the bed or a fluffy rug under your feet. The ensuite bathrooms are perfect for a pampering session with fluffy towels, robe and slippers and complimentary natural toiletries.
Each room has a special theme linked to the natural beauty of region. The Corrib Retreat Room looks out onto the Corrib River and Claddagh Harbour on the second floor. The Burren Vista Room gives stunning views of Galway Bay and the harbour. The Galway Bay Panorama Room, with its all-encompassing view, is located on the top floor and has quite an impressive claim to fame – the closing shots of the music video for Ed Sheeran’s Galway Girl were filmed.
